In continuation of my Confidential Despatch of
the 31st. ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that, subject to your approval, I have appointed Captain C. G. Woodhouse of the
126th. Baluchistan Infantry to be an Assistant Superintendent of
Police in charge of the force in the New Territories for a period
of twelve months from the 1st. instant, at a salary of £400, with
Duty Pay of £100, per annum. He is also to receive free quarters at Tai Po and an allowance of $360 per annum for conveyance.
2.
Certain conditions attaching to the loan of
this officer's services have been imposed by the Military Authorìti-
-es, viz.;-
(a). The appointment is to be subject to the approval of
the Imperial and Indian Governants;
(b). In case Captain Woodhouse is required for active
service he is to be liable for recall to his
regiment; and,
(c). This Government is to bear the expenses of the
passage of an officer from India to replace Captain
Woodhouse and, when necessary, of the passage back
to India.
It was considered probable that no objection
would be raised by the Governments concerned if the above
